Hardcore Survival Hit SCUM Announces Full Launch This August
One of Steam's most notoriously detailed and beloved survival games is finally ready for its full release. After a successful six-year run in Early Access, developers Gamepires and publisher Jagex have announced that SCUM will launch its 1.0 version in August 2025.
Since its debut in 2018, SCUM has earned a dedicated following and a "Mostly Positive" rating from over 88,000 user reviews. Players have been drawn to its incredibly deep and complex survival mechanics, which go far beyond simple hunger and thirst. In SCUM, you must manage everything from vitamin levels and metabolic rates to the health of your character's teeth, all while surviving on a massive 225 square kilometer map filled with zombies, wildlife, and other players.
The jump to version 1.0 is more than just a number. The full release promises to expand the game in significant ways, finally adding story-driven missions that will give players a clearer sense of purpose and progression. The update will also introduce extensive end-game content, more advanced crafting and building options, and an exciting new vehicle type: planes, allowing for thrilling aerial travel and exploration.
The full version of SCUM will launch on both PC and, for the first time, consoles. After years of development and community feedback, the game is poised to offer one of the most complete and hardcore survival experiences on the market.
