Your Google Docs on Android Just Got a Powerful AI Upgrade
If you're a Google Docs user on Android, get ready for a significant boost to your mobile productivity. Google has officially started rolling out its powerful Gemini AI directly into the Google Docs app, bringing a suite of smart writing tools to your fingertips.
According to a recent report from 9to5Google, a new floating action button featuring the Gemini logo will now appear in your documents. Tapping this button launches a "Help me write" prompt, allowing you to leverage AI for a variety of tasks without ever leaving the app.
With this integration, you can ask Gemini to brainstorm ideas, draft entire passages of text from a simple prompt, or summarize a lengthy document to quickly grasp its key points. The feature also works on existing text; simply select a paragraph and ask Gemini to rewrite it, perhaps to shorten it or change its tone to be more formal.
Once the AI generates a response, you can easily insert it into your document or provide feedback to refine the results further. This brings the full power of Google's AI, previously available on the web, directly to your Android phone or tablet, making it easier than ever to write, edit, and create on the move.
The feature is currently rolling out to users with a Google One AI Premium plan or a Google Workspace plan that includes a Gemini add-on. The rollout is expected to continue over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for the new Gemini button appearing in your app soon.
