Mayhem is Coming: Borderlands 4 Pre-Orders Kick Off with a Look at Future DLC
Get ready to return to the mayhem-fueled universe of Borderlands. Developer Gearbox and publisher 2K have officially announced that Borderlands 4 will launch worldwide on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-orders are live now, and with them comes a detailed look at the game's ambitious post-launch content plans, which include the return of playable DLC Vault Hunters.
The game will launch with four brand-new Vault Hunters, who will face off against the tyrannical "Timekeeper" on the new planet of Kairos. However, the adventure will continue long after the credits roll. For the first time since Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Gearbox is confirming that all-new playable Vault Hunters will be added to the game as part of its post-launch roadmap.
The post-launch content is broken down into several packs, bundled with the game's Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions:
The Bounty Pack Bundle (included in the Deluxe Edition) will feature four smaller DLC packs, each with a new area, missions, and a unique boss fight.
The Vault Hunter Pack (exclusive to the Super Deluxe Edition) is where the big story expansions will live. This bundle includes two major "Story Packs," and it's confirmed that each of these packs will introduce a new playable Vault Hunter, for a total of two new characters, along with new regions and narrative missions.
This is exciting news for fans who have missed the addition of new characters post-launch, a feature absent from Borderlands 3. Players who pre-order any edition of Borderlands 4 will receive the "Gilded Glory Pack" of cosmetic items. With a new villain, a new world, and the promise of more Vault Hunters to come, the hype for September is officially at maximum velocity.
