Nintendo Direct June 2025: All the Biggest Announcements
Nintendo just wrapped its highly anticipated June 2025 Nintendo Direct, delivering a 40-minute showcase packed with blockbuster reveals, long-awaited remakes, and a stunning final surprise that has the internet buzzing. Here’s a rundown of everything that was announced.
A New 3D Mario Adventure Begins
The show kicked off in grand fashion with the world premiere of Super Mario Odyssey 2. The trailer showed Mario returning to a vibrant, expanded version of the Metro Kingdom, before showcasing several all-new kingdoms with unique capture abilities. One new capture shown was a chameleon-like creature that allowed Mario to turn invisible and climb walls. The game is slated for a Holiday 2026 release.
Metroid Prime 2 and Other Classics Reborn
Following the success of Metroid Prime Remastered, Nintendo confirmed that Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Remastered is real and, in a surprise move, is available today on the Nintendo eShop! The remaster features updated graphics and modern dual-stick controls.
Additionally, a "Classics Collection" segment announced The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD are being bundled and released for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the Wii U classics to the new hardware this holiday season.
Third-Party Support and Indie Gems
The middle of the presentation was packed with partner announcements, including:
A new trailer for the Switch 2 version of Grand Theft Auto 6, confirming a simultaneous launch with other consoles.
Hollow Knight: Silksong received a new trailer and, finally, a firm release window of Spring 2026.
A sizzle reel of exciting new indie titles, including a sequel to the hit game Dave the Diver.
One More Thing... Start Your Engines!
Just as the presentation seemed to be wrapping up, the screen faded to black before revealing the iconic spinning blue shell. Nintendo gave fans a stunning first look at Mario Kart 10. The gorgeous in-engine trailer showcased a massive, seamless city circuit and a new anti-gravity "rail grinding" mechanic. While no firm release date was given beyond "now in development," the game was confirmed to feature new racers Diddy Kong and Pauline in the base roster. It was the perfect ending to a spectacular presentation.
